(Literal rise to the heavens)
It is a dogma of the faith that the mother of Christ ascended into heaven in body and soul (Assumptio Beatæ Mariæ Virginis, 1 November 1950). We have to believe it, but it is more difficult to understand it. Where does this flesh floating in the ether go to? Is it the only body in ‘heavenly glory’? If it is possible for this body to go to heaven and fill a physical space, heaven must therefore be a physical place and not really an abstract spiritual concept. This means that we can imagine a more believable paradise from these clues, with the solitary virgin incorruptible for eternity, floating joyfully thanks to our faith, accompanied by a billion invisible souls; maybe the red balloons that we lose as children go to the same place.
Let us use gunpowder to celebrate this great mystery and launch little virgins into our own little heaven. Let them explode before our incredulous eyes, and this will be the truest way to glorify the Mother of God in the highest. Amen
